Of Lumps and Goosebumps

Currently Listening

I'm not usually the kind of person who is given to emotion.  Not that I'm against it either.  I just am introverted in nature.  Sometimes I see people who close their eyes and just siiiinnnnnnnggggg!!!  Most of the time I wonder, "Wow!  Why don't I feel that?  I never get those "spiritual goose bumps" that others get.  Especially with the new worship music.

But there a few hymns and songs which get me a little misty eyed and put a lump in my throat.  We sang one yesterday.  "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing".  I always get that lump in my throat when I get to the third verse because I can relate to it so often.

"O to grace how great a debtor daily I'm constrained to be;
let that grace now, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee.
Prone to wander Lord, I feel it--prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above."

YEAH!!! I KNOW,  "AIN'T IT GREAT???  (Oh go ahead, make fun of me, I don't care)
Of course we ended the service with "Nothing But the Blood".  (yeah, I know, that's a "Baptisty" song but who cares).
Strangely enough I found myself moved by the Chorus;

"O precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus"

It's sort of been echoing in my head today.  Cool huh?

Soli Deo Gloria,
Edwin H. Schulze

My sisters and I do a mean three-part harmony on "Come Thou Fount"...  It's one of our favorite hymns!

Hello Mr. Schulze,
You made your site simple yet elegant. I see that God is foremost in your mind as you go about your daily activities. Now is a good time! I recommend the one true God, Jehovah.
I want to help people to really get to know God, especially in these troubled times. Here is an important message for all of us from the Bible: 17 You make God tired with all your talk. "How do we tire him out?" you ask. By saying, "God loves sinners and sin alike. God loves all." And also by saying, "Judgment? God's too nice to judge." (Malachi 2:17) (Message Bible)

I do worship the one true God, who is revealed to us in three persons. Not three Gods but one. I'm not sure what I have wrote that makes you think that I believe that "God loves sinners and sin alike. God loves all." Or that I somehow believe that "God's too nice to judge."

God does hate sin, and he does judge. As Paul wrote in Romans 2:23"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus." I suggest that you have a better understanding of what I believe before you assume something erroneously.

But your belief system is built on half truths to begin with. Such as your denial that Jesus Christ is God.

In fact you have even misused the Malachi 2:17 passage. The passage is about religious synics charging God with being unjust by graciously postponing punishment of sin. In context it means the exact opposite from what you have inferred. You should maybe read further, like at least into the middle of the next chapter.

Maybe we can talk about things when you are a bit more prepared.

As Jennifer said, we, as a family, love that hymn as well.  Very few words, but oh so full of meaning.  Are you staying busy working or has work slowed down?  What are your prospects for the winter?
